Green Festival
The San Francisco Green Festival is often called the "world's largest party with a purpose." Its goal is to create a higher awareness of the importance of making an effort to live eco-friendly. Various individuals and companies are on hand to discuss their green projects as well as inform and educate the public about the importance of making these necessary changes to help preserve our environment. There is plenty of live music, workshops and exhibits, as well as plenty of organic food and drink to further emphasize the importance of environmental responsibility. The event is usually scheduled twice a year, in both April and November.

Fleet Week
The men and women who serve on our military forces always deserve special recognition for their hard work and diligent sacrifices. San Francisco goes a step further to celebrate their efforts with Fleet Week, held every October. Families of those currently serving as well as veterans and their families are sure to enjoy the events of Fleet Week that include such attractions as an air show by the Blue Angels, Team Oracle, and the Air Force's F-16 Demonstration Team. Other events that are part of the festival include a Marine Band concert, ship tours, a fireworks display, and a parade of ships.

Litquake
People who love books love Litquake, the yearly literary festival held every fall in San Francisco. Renowned authors are on hand for lectures and book signings, and interesting panels, workshops and parties are also part of what makes Litquake such an essential event for both readers and writers of all backgrounds. One of the highlights of this event is the three-hour Lit-Crawl through the Mission District that features stops at galleries, bookstores, bars and cafes.

San Francisco Fall Antiques Show
Every fall, collectors and connoisseurs alike look forward to the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show. Several treasures await to be discovered among the vast array of items, as vendors from all over the United States and Europe participate in this annual festival that has the distinction of being the longest-running international antiques show on the West coast. Vintage items like furniture, textiles, silver, art and much more are on display and ready to be sold. There are other events that are part of the show that include lectures that cover such topics as interior design, architecture, and jewelry. The money raised from this event helps to benefit Enterprise for High School Students, an organization that provides teens with job and career guidance.

San Francisco International Automobile Show
Held in late November, the San Francisco International Automobile Show is a favorite of car enthusiasts everywhere. This slick and high tech showcase brings together everything from the expected to the amazing. Some of the favorites that garner plenty of attention include vehicles from famous makers like Maserati, Lotus, Aston Martin, Zap, Tesla and more. There auto festival has plenty of other eye candy at the confab, like various exhibits, models, demonstrations and plenty more that will rev up your engine!

Tree Lighting Ceremony at Ghirardelli Square
As the year winds down, the reality of the Christmas season becomes even more of a reality. That fact is celebrated to great effect with the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Ghirardelli Square. Much anticipation is in the air during the month of November, but on the day that the lighting actually occurs, the excitement is nearly palpable! This 50-foot tree has its lights illuminated the Friday after Thanksgiving, and stays up to light Ghirardelli Square all through December. So make plans to bring the family to this yearly Christmas tradition.
