San Francisco NightlifeWhen the sun goes down over the Golden Gate Bridge, the lights come up as San Francisco's dazzling nightlife begins. And when you're in town, there are several "must-see" stops along your evening trek that are unmistakable signatures of the City by the Bay. The dance clubs, comedy venues and various bars all offer a plethora of possibilities. So whether you already know what you want to do or just care to venture out without a specific plan, San Francisco's nightlife offers more than enough options to fill your night with your kind of fun.

AsiaSF
AsiaSF is a feast for the senses unlike anything else. This popular venue is a restaurant, a bar, and a dance club – making it an all encompassing nightlife destination. The Asian theme is everywhere you look, and that exotic air spills over into various aspects of the place, not the least of which are the servers who are female impersonators, or "gender illusionists," as they prefer to be called. There's a show that those impersonators put on, but don't let that distract you from the truly excellent menu of California-Asian cuisine. Complement your meal with an astounding array of desserts and perhaps a bottle from their award-winning wine list. Dinner reservations are required and guarantee your table for an hour and 45 minutes.

Martuni's
Martuni's is a bar that brings together the best of both worlds. The front part of the venue is a large bar that welcomes patrons with a comfortable nightlife environment and equally engaging drinks and company. In the rear room, the music takes center stage. That is where you will find an excellent pianist performer, or "piano man" who shows off not only his impressive vocal and piano virtuosity, but also his incredible range of material that includes pop songs, show tunes, and pretty much anything else that will get everyone to sing along. The barkeeps have the magic touch when it comes to martini creation, so come on in, order a drink, and get set to sing the night away with the fun group of new friends you'll find at Martuni's.

Rockit Room
Going out to a club and mingling with the glamorous crowd can sometimes mean you're going to deal with egos and attitudes that can put a damper on your celebratory mood. Not so when you venture out to the Rockit Room. This haunt on San Francisco's nightlife scene has consistently won rave reviews for being a fun, unassuming place to hang out with people just like you. The recent renovations have only made a good thing even better, as you can either hang out on the first floor and have a few beers or shoot pool. If the mood strikes, you can head upstairs to check out some live music, but there is an admission to see the band. Plus, the Rockit Room stays open well beyond the traditional closing time, so the party continues well into the wee hours.

The EndUp
At The EndUp, the spirit of celebration goes beyond just having a good time. The overall feel of the establishment is quiet un-establishment, as the nighlife destination continues a 15-year tradition of welcoming everyone in for an excellent time. And by everyone, that means people of every gender, race, and socioeconomic level have a place to feel comfortable without the attitude that can be so prevalent at similar clubs. Excellent DJs spinning your favorite tunes, a crowded dance floor that has a spot waiting for you, an area to chill and shoot a little pool in; these amenities all go to make the EndUp a truly San Franciscan experience!
